A sign on the door of the Toronto-based Tim Hortons coffee and donut shops in Brooklyn Center and Brooklyn Park say they are closed, effective Friday. All Twin Cities franchises had similar signs.
The closures came without warning and sparking threads on social media and conversations at water coolers.
The closures appear to be linked to a lawsuit filed by the ownership group of the Twin Cities franchises. The lawsuit accuses the Canadian company of overcharging for certain items that the franchises are required to carry.
